Amerigas
Lousy customer service

I am writing this because I have spent 4 consecutive sleepless nights due to being held hostage by Amerigas.
I am spending my 1st winter in my new home in Pennsylvania. I moved from
Maryland where i received my heat in the form of natural gas. I bring this
up because I had no clue the inconvenience, expense and amount of propane
that is needed to heat a home. My oven is propane, my dryer is propane, my
hot water heater is propane, and my heat is propane.
When purchasing a house in Pennsylvania it is required of the previous owners
to tell new owner of costs of various bills. Well, we were advised that our propane usage would be about a 1000.00 for the year.
Now the family who moved out where a family of 6 (4 children and two adults). My family consists of 2 adults and 1 child. We keep the heat at 65 degrees. Now with that back ground let me get into my grief with Amerigas.

On Jan. 06 I ordered the min. Of 200 gallons of propane due to money being a little tight. On February 13th while trying to use my oven I noticed that the burner was barely on even though I had turned it on high. So I ran outside to check the propane. To my horror I couldn"t even see the needle. So I called my husband and advised him to call Amerigas. I asked him to call them because my previous experiences with them have left me exaperated.
He called them received their emergency hot line (because the main office was closed) he explained we had no propane and they said that they would have someone call us on Monday. It is FEBUARY 13, Friday in the dead of winter and we have no propane!!! He called me let me know and I said please call them again. He did so - same response. So, ughhh I called them.
Told them the deal. I didn't know I had to run out on a daily basis to check the propane. We ran out and we need help. Sorry, says the un-compasionate lady on the phone. I then said well I smell fumes. On that note they sent someone out. I explained to them I will pay what ever fees I need to. I have to have heat. They came out and gave me 44 gallons of propane for 150.00.
I called as soon as they opened on monday and explained the situation to the robot on the phone and paid 530.15 for 200 gallons of fuel and was told 7-10 business days.
Do these people have families? Do these people have beating hearts?
It is now Wednesday Feburary 18th, my husband took a cold shower this morning to conserve hot water for me and his daughter. We live in the year 2009 and we have to live like this? They sure didnt take 7-10 days to take their money!!!
So, I have called around to switch companies and I am being told that I have to have their tank removed before they will bring another tank. Ok. I say, I call Amerigas to have them come pick up their tank, that they own, and they will not. They say it is my responsibility to have it removed. Ok let me understand this horrible situation. It is my property, they have their tank buried in my yard. It was inherited by the purchase of my home and they will not come and get it!!! So, I call around to get est. On excavating the tank and so far only one co. Has gotten back to me 800.00 to remove it!!! So, I call Amerigas back and ask if I can purchase their tank. The reason is if I own the tank I can have anyone deliver propane. They will NOT sell it to me. They say they are not selling assests at this time.
So here I sit at work, worried, depressed, and completely helpless unless THE MIGHTY AMERIGAS decides to send the truck today.

So, why do they harvest so much power? I dont know. Why are they allowed to tell me what to do on my land? I do not live in America of the free. I live in Amerigas' world of Horror.

Help!!!
