They love to scam employees and customers too

A couple of years ago, i was looking for a job and i saw an ad in the paper regarding a customer service position and promising good money. I was very interested so i called and set up and interview, still not knowing exactly what i was applying for.

I went for the interview and the interviewer was very fast, she asked if i new was kirby was, and literally explained the whole "job" in two seconds and she told me that they were looking for an advertising manager. I had no expirence whatsoever in advertising, yet they hired me on the spot. I had to ask again and make sure what the position was, i was just shocked yet excited to try something new.

When i got to the first day of training, i was shocked by all the people who were there to also train, i thought i was the only one who got hired for the job, and i could see the confused look on the other faces also. But i stayed for the training to see what this was all about.

They brought out the kirby and basically did the whole demo, to show how wonderful this machine is. Im sitting there thinking, what the hell does this have to do with advertising? Finally He explained that were going to be doing demos to customers, and that is their only way of "Advertising", so that we basically were "managing" how the kirby gets sold.

They told us that we would be getting paid 350 dollars a week, and showing very confusing ways how we would get paid, it depends if we found someone with bad credit then we would get paid less or if we sold the machine for cheap then we wouldnt get paid at all. But promised that almost never happened.

As i think of it now, i dont know why i continued to work there but it was the only job i could find, so i stuck with it. They made me drive EVERYWHERE! Half of the time no one was home. For the 3 months i was working for them i think i got paid 100 bucks? He would slip me some gas money so i wouldnt just get up and quit.

The kirby is a nice vaccuum, but not for how much they are sold for. We were told to sell them for 1500 dollars. And i guess evesdropping isnt that bad, i have overheard my boss saying they are only worth 400. Thats an 1100 profit!!! For who? Not for the ones who are working the crazy hours and never get to have a life!

Customers are scamed in by the offer for a free carpet cleaning. They would make and appointment to come down for it and then all they would ask for is for referals. Hmm, this is how it really works. I would go over, see what room you want me to do, ask to see your current vaccuum, set up my stuff, and then start pulling dirt. And more dirt, dirt, dirt, dirt. The only reason is for the customer to get discusted by their own house and the only solution to have a clean house is the kirby.

Oh and that wonderful salt demostration. Pour a whole bunch of salt on the carpet, rub it in, take the customers current vaccuum and try to clean it up. Ask them when they think its clean, then grab the kirby and look, there is a whole bunch of salt that was left over that the current one cant get.
We were told that most people get suckered in to buying one.

As long as this is, and i could go on forever and ever, if you have had the unfortuante pleasure to work kirby, i am very sorry, if you have ever been suckered to buying one, again, very sorry. If i were you, tell them no thanks, i love my hoover. Hahaha
