This person listed an ad online to adopt her yorkie and stated she was located in Waller, TX. I begin corresponding with her via email and felt more comfortable as she seemed to care about her animals and she stated she was a vet. I decided to go ahead and adpot her pet into my home and then she told me she was located in Toledo, Ohio and that she would have the puppy delivered to me.
I would just have to pay the $100.00 delivery fee. I felt that was reasonable as yorkies are pretty expensive dogs. She told me that she was going to go register the dog for delivery and then the delivery company would contact me for payment directly. I received a phone call from a guy at the delivery company and he stated to check my email as it had directions to send paymnet. Not thinking anything of it at the time I did as I was told and sent the western union payment.
Later that night after talking with my husband I began to put the pieces together and realized I was in for a heartbreak in the morning cause I had just been scammed and no puppy would be delivered to my home. Just as I suspected the dog was not delivered, but numerous emails were to my inbox.
The so called delivery company sent me emails stating the puppy would not be delivered due to being held for insurance and until I paid this additional money she would not be delivered. I was so livid to realize that I actually fell for this. It goes to tell you no matter how book smart or street smart you are, there are people out there that know how to play on peoples emotions to make them fall for such a scam.
