Outdoor Traveler
Thieves, Liars, & High-pressure Con Artists

Bluegreen Vacations Unlimited, Inc.-Outdoor Traveler timeshare packages came to my knowledge when I was shopping at what was once my favorite retailer in the world, Bass Pro Shops. I was there in December buying Christmas gifts for family and friends when I was stopped by one of Outdoor Travelers high-pressure sales people. (ALL Bass Pro Shops have a kiosk in their store which is dedicated to Outdoor Traveler timeshare packages.) I told the fellow I wasn't interested, but he wouldn't take "no" for an answer.

I listened as he told me how that for $50.00, I could purchase a weekend getaway to one of their 13 or so locations, and would also recieve a free $50 Bass Pro gift card. The only catch was that I would have to attend a two or three hour tour/sales picth on purchasing a timeshare package with them.

As anyone else would have thought, I figured at the very least, my family and I could get away for a fun weekend, and I would also get back the money I spent in the form of a Bass Pro gift card. I was hesitant because I constantly travel with my job and wasn't sure if I would have the time to take advantage of this offer. But the salesperson stated that I had a full year to use it at any of the locations, and at the very least, if I wan't able to use at the location I wished, I could use it down the road at the Dallas location. That sold me.

As I had figured, I never got the time to go where we would have liked, so I tried to schedule for the Dallas location. When I called, a representative informed me that the Dallas location no longer existed. At that moment, (in my personal case) a breach of contract had been committed on THEIR part, which voids the contract all together. I told them I wanted my money refunded, (which the sales rep ALSO PROMISED was a worst-case cenario option, "They really aren't concerned with keeping your $50" as to imply that all "they" were interested in was the upsale of a timeshare purcahse). The rep on the phone told me at first, that I couldn't receive a refund. When I brought it to her attention that a breach had been committed on their part, her story changed, and I was then told that a refund check would be sent to my bank account from which my debit card was used to pay for the $50, but only after the full year had expired. I informed her that I no longer banked there, and that the account had in fact, been closed for over nine months. She then stated that I (I!) would have to wait for the bank to send the money back to them, and that then they would send a check to my address that they have always had on file.

This has been over three months ago, and I have yet to receive my money. I called today, and after MUCH arguing with Kendra, a new rep, she said that she looked it up and that the bank took the payment and I (I!) needed to contact that bank to get my money back.

I contacted the bank and they had no record of any such transaction. I then contacted Kendra again, informed her of such, and after much arguing again, was put through to her supervisor, Andrew, who after MUCH, MUCH more arguing, told me too bad!!!

For someone who claims to not be interested in keeping my meager $50, they have gone to great extents to hang on to my money. I suppose I should be grateful that Bluegreen's true colors shown through as early on as they did, rather down the road when it could have been over thousands of dollars over crooked timeshare deals, which I have now learned with very little research, that many other people have been "suckered into".
Bluegreen Vacations Unlimited, Inc., a.K.A. Outdoor Traveler, and as far as I'm concerened - a.K.A. Bass Pro Shops, as they endorse such a business in each one of their stores, are thieves, liars, and con artists.

I urge anyone who patronizes Bass Pro Shops to boycott their retail stores, or at the very least, when you are visiting their store and giving them your hard-earned money, that you pay the Outdoor Traveler kiosk, and tell them what they are doing is wrong; because it is wrong, to take from me and other hard-working, honest Americans, and not deliver.

Myself, I have made it a personal goal to hang around their kiosks or booths, and stop at least 10 people just before they hand over their money.
