On November 7, I purchased a 2.01 carat cats eye alexandrite for $100.00 a carat; Marvin claimed it was worth $3000 to $5000 per carat. I was given a confirmation number at the time of purchase. The next day he sold similar stones at a much higher price. After not receiving the stone, I phoned customer service on November 28 and was told it had not yet been appraised and I would receive it by December 6. I phoned again on December 8 and learned my order was marked do not ship and had been cancelled because the stone had been "oversold." This was a single stone purchase, not from a group of gemstones. Several days ago Marvin sold a similar stone at auction for $900.00, so my stone was still available at that time.
