I have been ordering collectibles from Collectibles Today for many years and never had trouble until this year. That includes receiving credit without problems on returned items.
Just before Christmas 2007 I ordered numerous dolls and doll sets, some paid for at the time and some on payment plans. As the dolls started coming in, there were some sets that I was very unsatisfied with and started returning them. The next week, I had hit an advanced stage of major health problems and knew at that time I would never be able to work again.
At that point I gathered up the dolls and sets that were not paid for yet or had only had one or two payments made on and returned them to Collectibles Today, knowing I would not be able to pay for them. As I stated earlier, over the years I have always been treated fairly by them. Until now.
There is one set of dolls that were more expensive than the rest, $212.76 to be exact. They were returned with the rest of the dolls.
After several months went by, I received a notice from Collectibles Today requesting payment. I told them I had returned the dolls and found it very suspicious that every single item and set I returned and cancelled had been credited to my account Except the most expensive set. It seemed strange to me that after all these years why suddenly the most expensive items I returned suddenly disappeared and all the other dolls and sets had been credited back to me.
I was told to put this in writing and send it in, which I did.in writing as requested with the same question why did the most expensive disappear but none of the others did. I heard nothing for quite sometime, which left me thinking it was taken care of. Then I started receiving calls and mailed notices from Universal Fidelity LP the collection agency for Collectibles Today.
I explained to them what had happened and expressed my anger that after I did what was required of me they saw fit to turn it over to them instead of contacting me back after I put in writing my rebuttal. I was told by Universal that they had no notice of the letter and I had to do it again but send it to them. That in itself was unfair since I had already sent in a written rebuttal to Collectibles today and they did not see fit to contact me back.
I also at that time sent Universal a copy of the letter I sent to Collectibles Today. But what a surprise, they never "received" the letter and the calls kept coming and the notices in the mail kept coming. And let me tell you, the calls were not polite. It was like I was being called a liar.
I have had to turn off my phone because of the calls. No matter what I said, they kept telling me I had to re-write that letter and re-send it again. I did my part and I feel they are now being unfair. All I get is they have no letter and I have to do it again. Twice was enough, once to Collectibles Today, as was required and once to Universal Fidelity, which was required. It seems to me that eventually they have to do something about what I have done.
But they keep at me. And each time I ask "Does no one find it a little suspicious that every single item except this one expensive set showed up" and no one will even respond to that question.
Somewhere this has to stop. My health can't handle this constant harrassment and allegations, especially I did what was required of me, twice. To me, this whole thing is just too suspicious. Someone out there has a set of dolls that I returned with all the other dolls and sets. But as I said it is the most expensive which is also suspicious because every single item I returned that same two week period showed up. Only the most expensive set disappeared. Strange.
