I noticed in October that I was being billed for long distance on my local service bill from a company I have never heard of. I called them to find out why, have it stopped and get my money back. They preceeded to tell me that they could stop service but they couldn't credit me until they listened to the recoding to make sure I didn't agree to services and they would call me back.

I have been calling them once a week or so for 4 months and evertime I talk to them there is some excuse why they couldn't help me, usually it was that "the system was down" How convenient! The billing was finally stopped in December, but I still did not have my credit.

Then today (2-14-03) I received my local bill and they were charging me a monthly service fee again, and I don't even have any long distance on my phone right now!!!

This time when I finally got a live person the first thing I asked was if their system was up, he said yes, then I said good I need to speak to someone about a credit, he hung up on me. So I called back, same thing! I was hung up on three times.

The fourth time when I heard a human voice I said, "If I am hung up on one more time my next call is going to be to a lawyer..." She said "ok, how can I help you?"

I asked for a supervisor and was put on hold again for a long time, she finally came back and said she was authorized to help me, so after a long explanation and some arguing on her part, I told her that if this service was not removed from my bill and the whole amount credited I would be contacting an Attorney.

Long story short (too late!) She said she would issue the credit to my local service company and she would mail me a confirmation because they couldn't fax from the office (What?) I did get her name and operator number.

I then called my local service company for them to be aware and stop the billing from comming through again, apparently they can't stop it, but they can note my account so I am not shut off while waiting for the credit. So We shall see happens from here. I am not quitting until I have my money back.

I do remember the call they made to me, they were offering 7 cents a min, with no minimum for 14.95 a month, I had Opex Communications at the time and I payed 4.5 cents a min, no minimum, no monthly fee. I remember the guy who called me got an attitude when I told him about my service because he didn't believe that I could get a better deal than what he was offering.

From what I have learned in talking to these people is they call your house to offer cheap long distance, When you refuse service they ask to varify your address so they don't sign you up. This is how they are able to set up services without your consent.

These people are sneaky, deceitful, rude, incompetant morons who will take you for all they can get, So Beware if you get a call offering anything and they ask you to varify your address!!! Don't do it!
