I called Redding Auctions to make an appointment for their tail-gate auction on Friday night. I was called back the next week and told I would be number X.
When I arrived there on Friday night, I was told I would be lucky if any of my stuff sold because my number in line was too high. I was hopping, he was kidding since no one warned me of this when I called to schedule an appointment and suggested I wait until I could get a better place in line.
I found out the hard way, he was not kidding. I had a box of new items worth $75.By the time they started auctioning my items, many of the people had left and even the auction people seemed to have lost interest and just wanted to get out of there. They sold $75 worth of new items for $4.00 for the whole box. The auction before me, the person who owned the items said they should just sell his stuff for whatever they could get and they auction the remaining items off by the box. I was not given an option. They just sold my items off by the box. The auction people bought most of it.
I was the first person there Friday and there were already several loads of items ready for auction. I have to wonder who owned those items. Were they items the auction company bought from an unsuspecting person from a previous week?
Needless to say, I feel like I was robbed. I would have been better off donating my items and taking a tax write-off.
