1swz Sold me a sick puppy

I wish I had seen this website before I made my puppy purchase from Lori and Jerry Brewer! I purchased a French Bulldog from them in April with all assurances from Lori that he had received all of his shots and he was a healthy, family-raised' puppy. I really thought I asked a lot of good questions (my mom was a breeder so I know what kinds of things to ask), got references and did some research on her kennel and business (obviously not enough).

The night I received my puppy, he was already very ill, vomiting, diarrhea and very lethargic. I brought him to the vet the next day and they did some testing and it turned out he had Parvo Virus. He spent the next 4-5 days in the animal hospital and emergency hospital slowly recovering. With Parvo, the recovery rate is about 80% with good care. Since Parvo takes about 7-10 days to incubate and result in a positive test outcome, it is clear he got the virus at her kennel. My other dogs are vaccinated and in good health.

I kept Lori informed from day one and she seemed concerned and kept saying she would help me out with costs, which totaled $1,500. My vet even talked to her husband Jerry who assured them that his kennel was extremely clean and none of his other dogs had ever had Parvo. I sent Lori all of my health documentation from my Vet as per her request. After she initially reassured me she would try to 'help some' on the bill I never heard from her again. After weeks and months of e-mailing and calling Lori, she never returned my e-mails or phone calls. I only finally heard from Jerry after I gave them a deadline to reply to me with their decision or I would notify the Better Business Bureau. Guess what? Jerry replied that very day with a long sad story littered with excuses about them having just sold the entire kennel and that they were moving to Florida and that they were dealing with health issues. Again, Jerry insisted he didn't know what happened and that I had a right to be upset and they would try to help me with the bill.

I gave them until August 1st to let me know if they would be able to reimburse me. I never said that I would or would not report them, I wanted give myself flexibility to decide at a later date. August 1st came and went with no communication from them and I eventually let it go, still believing the best of them that maybe I was just unlucky and got a sick dog and they really had some terrible things going on in their lives.

But today out of curiosity, I did another search on her kennel (because I too noticed that she had changed the name of her kennel quite often) and this site popped up with similar experiences to mineand all involving Parvo Virus. I don't think that I was unlucky anymore. These people are obviously raising puppies in unhealthy conditions and their kennel should be shut down. So this time I AM going to report them to the BBB and the AKC and maybe, with luck, this will finally force them to stop lying to people and putting their puppies at risk. And Lori, if you are reading this, shame on you! Don't even attempt to rebut this, I have all the e-mails and vet bills for documentation so don't bother. Get out of the dog business and make your amends! It is wrong to take advantage of others and even worse to do at the expense of animals. Greed will get you no where and I can only hope your days in the kennel business are at an end.
