I was in an airport in Germany when I needed to make a call to my final destination, Madrid Spain. I had no other means of communicating to my party except by using the available payphone.
I used my credit card and made a phonecall no longer than 15 minutes. I made a couple calls that did not go through well, or had bad connections. Then I made one call in madrid when I couldnt find my party.
About a week later, I noticed some outrageous charges on my bank statement. The company charged me $200 for very little time spent on the phone.in Euros this is about 133. Either way, the company is seedy and does not deserve to be called a business. They are theives and are operating a monopoly in the airport as I was in an emergency situation and had to make a call. No where on the phone were the charges indicated. And there was no indication that the phone call would cost nearly that much.
I recommend anyone to avoid this situation before it is too late and they have your card number. I am not the first person this has happened to. Know who is charging you and how much.
