My husband is in the Air force, and we were moved to Maryland. For our wedding we drove back to Ohio. When i arrived in Ohio i only had a week to finish everything for the wedding, so first thing i had to do was get my dress to the cleaners. I go to drop it off, the owner seemed very friendly. And he told me that there wouldn't be a problem (the dress was a little yellowed... (it wasn't new). I put all my trust in him.
Well i get a call back 2 days before the wedding and this is what he says "You cant wear your wedding dress at your wedding, you need to go rush out and buy a new one" i was shocked, i didn't know what he was talking about, so i asked why. He started explaining these brushes this and holes that and my dress was cheap and that i deserved something better anyways. Well he finally got around to tell me that my dress had huge holes all over it. No way to repair these holes. I was outraged, but more in shock than anything. This was TWO DAYS before the wedding. I didn't have the money for a new wedding dress. So i asked him if he was going to help me pay for the dress. He said that he would pay for the cost of the dry cleaning which was 50 dollars, but that was all that he could do. And he made that out to sound like that was hurting his business by refunding me my money that i paid to get the dress cleaned. The next day my mother called and asked to speak to the boss, the guy who answered said the boss wasn't in, but he was the manager. Well she told the manager that he needed to pay for more than just the 50 dollars, but he said that he couldn't do that. That the dress that i had was not a good dress, it was cheap and that i needed a new dress, that i deserved to wear a new not used dress. Well that's not the point. That's the wedding dress that i picked out, that i wanted.
So i did the only thing i could. I went out, scrounged up some money, and bought a dress. Got married the next day. Then it was time for us to go back to Maryland. Well on our way home we decided to make one last attempt to get our money. So we went into the dry cleaners and asked to speak to the boss, and guess who it was... The guy that stated on the phone to my mother that he was not the boss. Trying to avoid conflict obviously. Well no matter what me or my husband said he wasn't budging, he was not paying for the replacement cost. Well before i left i made sure to take the dress with us. Now we dont know what to do, we are in maryland, he is in ohio. Hopefully this will help others peoples decision on what dry cleaners to go to.
