I agree with the posting made by Denise. I also found myself in a tax jam after the book keeping company we used for several years got audited, and were found to be crooks. Thus, we got audited as did many others that used that company.
We had 3 years audited and suddenly had to come up with about $15,000 to the IRS. I saw an ad for Roni Deutch and called. The screener got all my information and said that we would be eligible for an offer of comprimise that would reduce what we owed the IRS. Of course, it would cost us $3,000 to Roni Deutch, but we were assured we would save thousands more. They also told us that once we retained them, penalties and interest would stop accumulating until the case was resolved.
We then were sent a package of forms to fill out, and we did. We got it sent back and asked to make some adjustments, and we did. We sent in documents, receipts, etc. We tried to get ahold of the lawyer supposedly assigned to our account (who's name was on all the letters), but she never was there and never returned our calls.
The only time they ever called us was when they wanted the payment.
After paying $2750 of the $3000, they sent us a letter stating that we were not eligible for an offer in comprimise after all. And they had the nerve to ask for the remaining $250 payment. They cancelled our agreement because we refused to pay it until we could talk to the attorney. Of course, that never happened.
They are a scam and rip off. We called and demanded our money back since they did nothing on our behalf, and they refused. We then got a letter from the IRS advising the amount we owed, which included penalties and interest for that past year. When i confronted the operator at Roni Deutch, they said that there is no way they could have stopped the penalties and interest and that we were not told that it would.
This company is a scam and they lie. That $2750 could have gone to the IRS as Denise said. Also, we contacted another advisor, and have since forwarded the offer in comprimise OURSELVES to the IRS and they have accepted it. DO NOT USE RONI DEUTCH!!! Save your money.
