Today (9/3/08) I rec'd my phone bill and noticed that the cost was higher than it should be. When I logged in to see why, I noticed that I had two new charges from companies I know nothing about.

The first was from GOFAXER.com, INC. #, I was charged for Monthly Business Svc Fee of $12.95 plus a state tax of 6%. 78 cents for a total of $13.73.

When I called the phone # (888) 269-8079, it told me that the call could not be completed.

The second was from ILD Telesevices, Inc. (800) 433-4518 and foneright, inc. (both reflect the same phone number).

When I called that phone number, it asked me to key in my phone number and when I did, it disconnected me.

I then contacted AT&T at (800) 288, which is the Plans & Services numbers to find out what's going on.

I was told by the respresentative that she doesn't know who those companies are and that I have to contact them directly to cancel the service. I explained that I tried both numbers provided and that I could not get through on those lines. She then verified the phone number that she had and the Billing Resource number (GOFAXER.com) was a misprint, it should be a prefix of 296 instead of 269, but she did confirm that the 2nd number was correct, but that they close at 5:00 PM EST and it was already after 5:00 PM.

I asked her how this could happen and she said that I must of have signed up for service and I explained that I did not and do not know who these companies are. I explained that it is a total scam that AT&T would allow businesses to just start billing me and that I feel it's their responsibility to prevent this from happening. I gave AT&T my information, but never provided my information to anyone else. She explained to me that they are only the billing for the companies and that they can't prevent companies from billing us. She did say that she would issue a credit, but that the record shows that this is a recurring monthly fee and that I had to get in touch with the companies in order for them to stop billing me.

I then logged onto the usacomplaints.com site to see if this has happened to anyone else and I can see that I am not alone. I feel that this is a total scam and that we should all unite and file a Class Action Lawsuit to prevent this from happening to anyone else.

I will most definitely be on the phone first thing tomorrow morning to find out how they did this and I will update this report as soon as I hear what they say.
