Overcharged, refused to return overpayment, damaged house and property, failed to deliver thousands of dollars of my belongings, would not process my claim for damages and loss, owner will not return calls

Home Sweet Home advertizes itself as a caring professional moving and storage company that also professionally handles antiques and expensive household items. They do neither. They use inexperienced close to minimum wage workers who damaged my house and belongings.

Joe Beverly is the owner and contact person who avoids and ignores all correspondence when ther is a problem. He was paid $1200 by me to cover the balance of storage fees in 2004. It took a month of phone calls and the threat of legal action by a lawyer friend of mine to get him to arrange a delivery date of my household items.

I had to pay him upfront in cash to get my belongings returned to my home in Kensington, Maryland. I was overcharged for delivery-his estimate-he promised to return the overpayment-never did. I paid him approximately $2000. He estimated 8-10 hours for work that actually took about 2 hours.

Home Sweet Home did not deliver over 1/3 of my property and Joe kept promising to deliver the balance the next day, day after anmd on and on. He never did deliver ands then refused to takle my calls, return my money or file the claim I made for damage to the walls, floor, furniture and other items and loss of my goods, including but not limited to a beautiful new piano, sofa, coffee table, 2 bicycles, cherrywood plant stand, A Horchow armoire, bedroom set that cost me $ office swivel chair, bookcases, wood filing cabinet, photos of my girls from birth to 18, numerous boxes of holiday decorations, clothes-some brand new, records, outdoor furniture, Oreck vacuum cleaner (he delivered someone else"s beat-up old vac), a Victorian style recliner (also brand new), and much more.

Joe refused to meet with a rep from the Better Business Bureau and refused to talk with The Maryland Dept of Consumer Affairs. He told me flat out the last call he accepted thaty he was not going to deliver my possessions or return my money. He was angry because I confronted him about his negligence and liability, then hung up.

My claims have never been processed and I have been told to get a lawyer. It would cost me $5,000. I am on permanent disability due to spinal injuries and the complications. I can never recover my loss or sentimental items. I will have to pursue Joe and his company through my senator or government rep. He must be stoppped. His company has a long history of doing this to others. He is bold and uncaring. He has been getting away with this criminality for years without remorse or liabilty. He must be stopped. The BBB only keeps records for 3 years and at the time of my investigation, he had 7 other complaints against him. But the real story was incomplete due to the way the BBB keeps rewcords.
