I got caught up in National Power Company (NPC) going out of business. I was not notified in any way that they were going out of business so that I could make other arrangements. I only found out when StarTex power sent me a letter asking for my business.
When NPC went out of business, I was moved to service with Amigo Energy without notice. I recently got my bill for 8 days of service. I was charged $0.2419 per kWh for a total of $203! That's over double what I was paying at NPC.
Anyway, I contacted Amigo Energy yesterday (888-469-2644 then select option 1) and inquired about the high price of their electricity. I was very nice and did not accuse anyone or make any threatening comments. After a few minutes, the company offered me a discount of $47. I immediately paid over the phone so that now I'm done with them.
I did contact the attorney general, and I was told to file a complant with the Public Utility Commission (www.puc. State. Tx.Us). I have done so.
