This is an alert to all those who come into contact with a Matt Kortz. There are several other articles on-line written by other disgruntled workers who have been disrespected by this man.
I believe that my experience may help anyone considering a job with his company.in the past he has worked for himself but now is involved with a company called Netpique. I, like others, applied on line and after a brief interviewing process was hired by Netpique. I accepted the position due to the fact that it offered a comfortable base plus commission pay structure. The company itself seemed to have proffessional HR reps and I was excited for an opportunity to advance to a management position.
I do not write this as a bash against Netpique, however, Matt Kortz is a terrible person and should not be given the position of power that he holds. Once I started working for him I was shocked by the way that he treated those working for him.
Everymorning we would meet in the office for a crazy sales pep rally before heading out into the field. I have worked sales for years and I understand that enthusiasm is required, however, this cult like atmosphere is something different. Matt is a small unattractive man easily intimitated by anyone who may question his logics. He frequently loses his temper and uses fowl language to cut his sales team down. Every day he would threaten the group and say that he would be firing 2 people and soon replacing them with 2 new people, which he constantly held interviews for.
Every week we would lose atleast 2-4 sales reps due to people quitting or being let go. If anyone questioned his techniques or even suggested that we try something new they were immediately fired. He also constantly hired underqualified young girls that would openly admit that he hired them while they waited on him at a bar. It was nothing for him to hire a pretty young girl who had no experience in business to business sales and let them go to the pool or the gym each day instead of working to make sales. Eventually the girls would become uncomfortable with his advances and quit.
He also would only hire meek soft-spoken men who could not stand up for themselves. One day I watched in horror as he degrated a man named Rob in front of the entire group. Rob had asked why the company did not give its reps business cards and Matt completely lost his temper. He made fun of the way Rob dressed and talked and said that he was making excuses for poor selling. (Mind you, Rob is a kind hearted proffessional who at the age of about 40 has had years of experience in sales.) About a week later Rob left the company.
Matt would brag and tell stories (we assumed lies) about Hockey players from the Penguins "banging chicks" in his hot tub. He constantly would tell the young girls to dress more provocatively to increase their sales. One day he even made the comment that a young girl named Jen must be bi-racial because she had big ass. He was so offensive it made me sick to be in the office.
The only time he would try to act proffessional would be when the company's VP and President would come into town. He then would do his best to convince his bosses that he knew what he was doing.
I have seen him make people cry, I have been personally insulted by him, and I have spoken to many people who have left the company because they found him impossible to work for.
The problem is that he runs the office with no supervision and he is making the company look like a joke. I truly hope that there will be an individual who takes a stand against him to expose his behavior.
I myself have left for a better opportunity and I feel that it is a hopeless cause in trying to expose this man. Little did I know that there are others on line speaking out against him as well. Those seeking a position with this company beware of this man. Matt Kortz is an awful individual to work for.
