I signed up for match on 6/27/08 after I got an e-mail from someone. Something told me that it might be bogus but what can I say, I did it. And yeah it was. The e-mail was really vague and mentioned nothing about me. Who sends that type of e-mail? I felt suckered. Since I was unsure about the e-mail, I signed up for 1 month which was $44.99. I used the service for about 2 weeks and lost interest. I didnt have to worry because I signed up for a month.
Today is 7/28/08, I go online to pay a bill and what do I see, Match.com has charged me another $44.99. I got really angry because I felt I was suckered into paying in the first place now I feel Ive been robbed. I immediately canceled my subscription, but noticed my credit number is still on their site. I called match.com and told them I want my money back, I was told they have a no refund program and I could continue to use the site for the remainder of the month.
I initially accepted that. The more I thought about it, the more upset I got. I went online to see if others had the same complaint and Wow did I find a lot. I decided they were not going to take my money that easily. I called back and told them I want everything they have, my profile and my credit card number removed from their site. I told the customer service person I felt ripped off, he told me there was nothing he could do. I then told him that I would fight this any way I could, that meant going to my bank and reporting a fraudulent debit, and reporting match.com to consumer affairs, he then put me on hold and went to speak to a supervisor.
He returned and informed me he was authorized to give back a one-time refund of my $44.99 which would be returned to my account in 24hrs. This customer service person told me 3 times there was nothing he could do for me, but I would not take that. I asked him what he would do if someone did this to him, he didnt have an answer, so I told him I'd Fight, and that's when he went to speak to a supervisor.
Do not let these people take your money that easily and just say sorry, fight for whats yours!!
