Americatel Corporation charged my phone number for services I never authorized/requested. I am on my first day of trying to get these services canceled.
AT&T, my phone service provider, informed me that there was nothing they could do and that Americatel can continue to charge me until I cancel with them. The AT&T representative also informed me that if I switch phone carriers that Americatel can continue to charge me.
I plan to call, continously send faxes, send letters by certified mail from my attorneys and contact the FCC. I have read that other consumers requesting to cancel services did not receive confirmation numbers for their cancellation requests. I will be sure to obtain a cancellation confirmation number from their representatives.
I spoke to a representative at Americatel and received/confirmed fax numbers and mailing addresses. She verified the date services began and that an application was signed by my husband. A faxed copy of this application will be sent via fax within 72 hours. After receiving and confirming that my husband did not sign the application we can request a credit. I can not wait to see this application that my husband did NOT sign.
Here is another address and fax number the representative gave to me: 7631 Calhoun Place, Suite 650, Rockville, Maryland, 20855, additional fax number (800) 434-4338.
I will send updates on my process and notify how the cancellation was completed successfully.
