I am a licensed private investigator in the state of Michigan. I recently learned about a woman who moved from Michigan to Oregon.instead of having the items moved to Oregon they were placed in a local storage by an individual operating a Budget Rental. She was quoted a price of about $1,700 and then told it would be up to $7,000 and now adjusted to $4,300.
The individual with whom she has been dealing claims to work out of New York, New Jersey and Michigan. He claims he doesn't know anything about the contract with Reliance Relocation and is doing it himself.
I am working on behalf of this individual and she has pointed out to me that there are numerous other complaints with the company operating in the same poor manner.
I spoke with a man today who first identified himself as Joseph, then John Ashdot. He will not tell me where her property is currently located or if it is even enroute to Oregon. He wants the cash before he will provide any details.
I informed the gentleman that tomorrow I am meeting in Lansing with an assistant in the Michigan Office of Attorney General. I then plan to talk with investigators at the Michigan State Police Headquarters also in Lansing. I further will speak with a consumer affairs investigator for WOOD-TV8 in Grand Rapids.
I'm willing to conduct a fair investigation but so far I am quite shocked in the way this person was treated, and of all the other similar complaints.
Reliance Movers, Accurate Moversor whoever you are? Michigan does not appreciate people who take pleasure in financial havoc of unsuspecting consumers.
A relocation in itself is stressful enough without bad guys out there lying and cheating to the public. If anyone wishes to contact me with their story I would be glad to pass it along to law enforcement authorities here in Michigan. I'm sure that office would know who to contact in any respective state where a fraud may have occurred.
