We purchased an english bulldog puppy from NY Bulldogs in February. Although my puppy (now 6 months old) did not have ParvoVirus, she did come to us with a skin rash on her arms and throat, a respiratory infection, and a urinary infection (we took her to the vet and had all of this taken care of the first week that we had the puppy). She also has some emotional problems (she is afraid of anyone who has something in their hands and she acts by backing away and barking viciously at the person). Now, I am a very experienced dog owner—i have three other dogs and have had dogs throughout my life. I have witnessed formerly abused dogs act in a similar fashion.
My vet was most certain that the facility she came from was most probably not good at all. A big problem I do have with Steve Feldman, the person who showed me the dog and handled the purchase of the dog, is that he simply does not care about the dogs nor the customers.in fact, if you do try to reach him, you most probably will get an answering machine and no call back. The only time he does answer the phone is if—i have experimented with this—there are new puppies posted on the website for sale!
We left Steve several voice messages throughout the past 4 months and NEVER received a phone call back. To date, 5 months into having our puppy, we never received any paperwork or registration on the dog—something that is promised in writing (contract). After speaking with Steve today—in which he denied ever receiving any messages and made excuses that the phone number changed and that the address changed—nothing has been resolved regarding the missing paperwork for our puppy. He claims that in the contract, technically, the paperwork can take up to 6 months—but, i highly doubt i will get it in the next month.
I have reported Steve and his lovely business to the BBB, ASPCA NY regional office, AKC, the NY Attorney General's office, and the NY dept. Of Agriculture.
I strongly urge anyone else with a similar problem to do the same.
And, I am open to filing a civil suit against an inhumane facility as this.
People, please take heed from the numerous cautionary messages posted about ny bulldogs—do not buy a puppy from them, you may end up heartbroken from losing a puppy to a virus, in debt with vet bills, and/or stuck in a position such as myself where you have to take action with the state and animal organizations to work to shut them down!!!
It is truly unfortunate when you come across places like this, that simply do not care to treat animals in a similar fashion to the way they treat themselves.
