After several years (5) of very bad service, being put on hold for 30-45 minutes trying to get service, bad hardware, bad software, system crashes where they had to be rebooted, bad installs, and non-caring customer service reps, I had decided to switch to cable.
I wanted to close the account and pay my last bill. I contacted them and spoke with one of their service reps to get a final payment. I was told that there were fees that were going to be waived and that my final payment (which I made over the phone) would conclude our business together. I paid the rep over the phone was given a confirmation number and thought I was done. I then received a call 2 weeks later from another rep stating that I now owed an early termination fee. I told the rep that I'd concluded the business and gave her the confirmation number that was given to me. I was told that the person who had given me that information was not authorized to do so. I was given two options of paying the bill or having it turned over to a third party (collection agency).
I have never in my life seen a business that has had such little regard for its customers, and continues to demonstrate a non-caring attitude about all service aspects only caring about getting their money. Warning to all considering using direct tv. Do not!!! Unless you are prepared for repeated bad service, countless hours on the phone, and a company that is only concerned about getting their money, do not do business with direct tv!!!
