I got a call from someone stating that I was chosen to be entered into a cash sweepstakes. No obligations, it was just that I was a preferred credit card customer. I accepted the entry.
I was called back several times from CMS. I never gave any billing information to anyone, and then I found a charge on my credit card for 66.65. It was supposed to be the first of twelve payments. My wife was furious.
I called the phone number on my credit card bill to cancel the "subscription". They said that within 3-5 business days, it would be credited back to my card, and thanks anyway. It has been well over a week, and the charge still stands.
Now I have received a letter from them stating that they will no longer bill my card, but send me invoices for all further payments. I am working on trying to get it straightened out, but so far, nothing.
Please, do not fall for telemarketing scams like this one. It could cost you a fortune. Also, I haven't received any magazines, and do not even know what I am "subscribed" to.
