WorldCom Wireless
Ripoff dishonest fradulent billing consumer rip-off

05 June 02 I received junk mail from worldcom wireless offering a free cell phone with any connection. I called and spoke with a customer rep, I asked several questions regaurding the celluar phone service. I needed a service plan that fit to my needs.

I am in the military so I needed a plan that ranged from my home in Pennsylvania to my place of station in North Carolina. I would also need the plan to have unlimited nights and weekends. And of course eveything that I needed to fit my lifestyle they had already in a package.

I was hooked and signed up. I gave them both of my addresses as to were I could be located and indicated my living conditions as to my job. I receive the phone a couple days later.in the package was just the phone no information about the company, no information about my service plan, nothing.

A month went by and no phone bill came to either of my addresses. With no information I could not get in contact with them to inquire about my service. I conviently held onto the phone number from when I first called about getting the free phone and called them.

I asked to speak with some one in billing in regaurd to the bill. They told me they would send a bill to the address that I had given them. Another month went by and still no bill.

I called again telling them I hadn't been receiving a bill and would like to make a payment on my account. The rep told me the amount due for my bill came to a total of $703.72 for two months of services.

I asked how that could be and they replied I had a lot of long distace charges that ranged from PA to NC. Which I specifically specified that I needed in my plan was no long distace charges.

She told me they have no service plan for the area that I was in (North Carolina). She told me to look at my service plan, I responded with how could I if nothing came to me stating what my plan covered.

In responce to that I also told her that I wanted to disconnect the plan (even while I was on the phone with the rep I was being charged long distance, and she continually kept putting me on hold spending my money at her convinence).

In order for her to disconnect my service she charged me an addition $200.00 to disconnect the phone. I asked to speak with someone higher up to ask questions and report the falsness of the charges and what I was guareented in my plan she wouldn't let me speak to any one she would have them call me.

Of course no one called, and the phone still wasn't disconnected. And they still charged me for having the phone connected. I called them up several times very angry and distraut. I made it a point to tell them that I was not paying for all the additional charges they kept adding on when the phone was to be disconnected.

Still yet they charged me. I am writing to you for your help and support on this issue. I am currently over seas in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, I do not have the convienence to take action on this issue at this time.

I would like to note that on my bill they claim that I can easily get in touch with the via e-mail, which for some odd reason there is no point of contact at there website. They also do not have any type of customer service number to get in reach with them.

For such a big name company why is it that there is no point of contact with them. They stress the fact they want there money and give you a mailing address as to were you can send your money, but why is it that if you were to have a qustion or anything this big company doesn't have a customer service number.

I foregot to make one other point. Worldcom said that there is no celluar service what so ever in the state of NC, when I had called reguarding the fact of the high charges, so why is it that when they finally decided to send me a bill, all the local calls that were made when I was in NC, were all free? And why did my phone have service if there wasn't any phone connection in that area?

That does not make any sence, that is why I feel I am being scammed. My parents just informed me that WorldCom went bankrupt and was under investigation for false billing charges. Like I said I can't respond to anything being the fact I am away in support of OEF.
