I received an express envelope with a check in the amount of $2485.50 with my name on it without any correspondance. I went on the internet to check on the company and found everything legit.
I deposited the check into my account. I only had about $30.00 in my account, to my surprise the teller asked, how much cash I wanted back. I just knew they would put a hold on the check seeing it was out of state plus I didn't have enough to cover it. That was on 5/09/08. I have my SSI check automatically deposit.
Weeks later I tried to use my atm card and was denied, so I went to the bank to get a withdrawl, thats when I found out that the check was returned account closed.
I then tried to stop my check from being deposited, was one day to late. My check is due me on the fourth wednesday of the month. I'm not sure of the date I was told this but I didn't receive a check for may.
I now have had my account closed and owe the bank more that $1,900.00 after they deduted my check of $628.00. It seems as though I've been wronged by my Bank along with Norandal USA.
Why would a bank not put hold on a check in that amount, out of state and me not having enough to cover, but they still give me money back the day of deposit. Please help.
