Con Edison NY sent out brochures from Accent Energy with the monthly bill. My mom is disabled and on a limited income so we thought it be a good idea to see what "the savings" were about. I asked both Con Ed and Accent Energy what kind of savings I could expect. I was told I'd save substantially on my "supply" of electricity. Well, it turns out that my mom is paying about 1/3 more on her bill. I didn't inspect her bill until recently and called Con Ed to ask about the savings i was supposed to receive.
They stated that the difference between what they would have charged ($97) and what Accent charged ($143) was $46 more a month! That's ridiculous! I am calling Accent Energy in the morning to have my mother's account removed. I feel Con Ed is partially responsible because they sent us the information and reiterated that we'd save money by purchasing from a supplier. What a Ripoff!
