First off, I'd like to say that I was scouted by TCT a while back. Fortunately, I didn't try my luck with them as an agency, and here's why.
My father is heavily into the performing arts, specifically acting and musical performances. He and a promoter friend of his were there when the scout first approached me. Upon asking some simple questions (well, simple for them. I had no clue what they were asking), we found that the scout did not know the answers to any questions directed at them in regards to their company.
The questions were things like: What is the big-name represented by your company? (All talent agencies have one, their claim to fame.) What are some of the positions found by your agency? Simple questions, and any sales-person (let's face it, that's what the scouts are) should know it, as part of their pitch.
I am not saying that they aren't substantiated by SOMEONE in the company, but so far, everyone I've talked to in TCT doesn't seem to know what's going on... Since that time, I have been represented by a different agency, and the severe turn in the pitches, as well as the fees.
One more thing. To those of you that choose to insult the BBB, think about it. The BBB is not a pyramid scheme, you do not have to register with them, and they do NOT just hand out UN ratings.
