This company Global Ocean Freight should be Closed down, They contact you quite fast initially to get your business when you are getting quotes from different companies and are very persistant, initially the contract was done in a weeks time and belongings were picked up quickly, they get your deposit and signature and you think they are on top of it. That is the first impression they make a good one, (so you think), then once that is done, everything goes down hill from there.
March 2007 my familys belongings were picked up, and we were told from California to Bolivia in South America we were going to have our things within 6 weeks, the first lie. Our belongings sat in a warehouse for 6 months initially in Long beach, california, then they drove it to Miami by truck. Then Global hired another company from Chile to take it to Chile in route to Bolivia.
Sarah, who left the company, lied to us constantly, Stephanie Bodner lied and was rude constantly she is supposedly the office manager, when you ask to speak to the owner she won't give you a name, later I found out the owner is Ettie Cohen who you cannot speak to or email, nobody there gives you her information so you can't communicate with the in charge person, and we were never notified by the company, we always had to make international calls and be left on hold for 20 - 30 minutes at a time. I think they were hoping you would give up and hang up so they wouldn't have to deal with you.
This company has the worst customer service you ever can imagine. When you catch them in a lie, they never apologize they always make you feel like your the one in the wrong, and all you want is your personal belongings delivered. I was charged extra for things by the company in Chile that Global said they would pay and when they wouldn't send the Chile co. The amounts storage fees starting mounting, what they do is agree to things and then just sit on it and don't take action and you end up having to pay for their lack of following through, I was told to send in a complaint letter and I would get reimbursed for fees that were not my responsibility and this was done in Feb. I am still waiting as of today (May 19th, 2008) for a reimbursement check.
Besides the fact that they took One whole year to get my familys belongings delivered. My husband was not able to perform his job in South America because of our cargo arriving a year later, we were forced to come back to the states, earlier due to not being able to accomplish our jobs there, our cargo was extremely important for our livlihood, no jobs no money coming in. We relocated our whole family, my children didn't have clothes, toys, medicines, both children have extreme asthma, and never once did we get an apology, so now we returned to the United States and our shipment is in Bolivia and we can't even get reimbursed by anyone from the company,
The last 3 months we are told by Brandie Gray a new hire, that our request for reimbursement of $732.80 has been approved but no one cuts us a check, they give us the runaround, and pass the phone around, or you accidentally get hung up on, so we are double screwed by this place they call a company, We are not with our shipment all personal belongings, our money was taken, and our children still are going without, its been the biggest nightmare of all nightmares.
Please if you are thinking of this company please, please, don't use them not even if they quote you a decent price, because that is also a fraud, fees come up and you are responsible if you want to see your cargo otherwise like the chilean co. Told us pay up or we auction your stuff. Its a sad injustice being done by Global Ocean Freight. Shame on you Global Ocean Freight! Beware of the nice automated recording of their companys integrity it too Lies!!! When you are left on hold this recording comes on and it is also full of it!
