I signed up with $5.95 charged to my creditcard for service to be able to download a file. After being given a username and password, I clicked on "Authorization" and it would not go through. This site did give me a link which went to "Billingsvc.com", where when I called that 1.800.657.9205, i was put in a loop. This is when I realized that this company did not seem right.
I informed the credit card. I had to wait until the charge received a reference # before the "Dispute dept." could give me a credit. I asked them to put a "fraud alert" on my account for any future charges from this company. Two hours later after talking to the Dispute person, there appeared another charge of $29.63.
I have now cancelled my credit card, but have to wait for the reference number to appear before the credit card company will issue me a credit.
How come a credit card company, in this case Visa, not heed when customers complain? Its such a hassle to go through the credit card company to be able to report and prevent these type of charges.
This has been my first experience of a frudelent use of credit card inspite of being a heavy credit card user on the net (Visa doesn't use the same term to describe this kind of transaction where I provided the card numbers).
My lesson learnt, without getting discouraged in credit card use on the net, is to be more vigilant of the type of site when logged in.
