Drake Parker #NND0071 Called me and said I had won $1000 gift card and requested my personal information

Saturday, April 12 - 1:40 pm
I received a call asking if I had made any recent purchases at Walmart, Kmart or JC Penney, I said yes. The man said "Congratulations, your phone number has been drawn this week and you have won a $1000 gift card to the store of your choice, I chose Walmart.

The man asked to verify my name and mailing address so the $1000 gift card could be mailed to me. He had my name correct, but when he verified my mailing address, it was not my home address it was my work address. I knew exactly where this man got my information. It was not for shopping at Walmart or any other store. (Several months ago I ordered the book 'The Weight Loss Cure "They" Don't Want You To Know About, ' written by 'Kevin Trudeau', I had it shipped to my work address. This was the only time I had given out my work address or had something mailed to my work address.)

I gave the man another address to mail my $1000 gift card to me, it was sounding legitimate and they were not asking for money or too much information. The man then said to expect my $1000 gift card in the mail in 5-8 days. Then man then told me he was transferring me to a Verification Agent, a different man got on the phone, said his name was Drake Parker with Global Pin, employee #NND0071.

Drake Parker then repeated my name and address and said he needed to verify my expiration date on the debit/credit card I most often use, I expected him to give the date and I would say yes or no, but Drake said he had to enter the expiration date into the software provided to him by Visa/Mastercard, I told him the expiration date. Drake said it was accepted and now he needed the number right above the expiration date on my card, well that is my actual card number so I declined giving it to him.

Drake Parker then asked what was I worried about, he saig Global Pin is the leading company that provides identity theft protection, and I had nothing to worry about. I told him I would not give him that information and I hung up the phone. Drake called me back immediatly and asked that I speak with a Senior Representative with Global Pin, a new guy got on the phone, I said I will not give him my card number. I asked the guy for a phone number to call him right back (Caller ID showed number UNKNOWN) the guy said he was unable to give out that information over the phone, but when I received my $1000 gift card all the information I needed would be included in the package.

I told the guy to send the package to me certified mail, I can show my ID to the Mailman and that would prove the right person receives the $1000 gift card. The Senior Rep. Said he would need $1.95 from me to send the package this way. I said OK, send it C.O.D. And I will pay the Mailman. The Senior Rep. Then requested that I give him my credit card # for the $1.95 shipping and handling cost. When I said No, he said, Do you really think I would jeopardize my job here at Global Pin by not protecting the information that you give me, I am not asking for your birthdate or for your social security number. Then the Senior Rep. Said, If it would make me more comfortable, I could call my credit card company and pre-approve only $1.95 to be charged.

I told the guy that he would not get anything from me and I was going to report his phone call and do not call me back again.
