Not quite a year ago a purchased a goldendoodle from puppyforyou, what I thought was a reputable breeder.in my ignorance I didn't do all of the necessary research as I was not aware that Puppy Mills even existed. I wish I knew then what I know now.
The entire "transaction" sounded off alarms in my head as my first instinct was to go to their "farm" and see where she lived. Of course, there was a huge flood of some kind that prevented us from going. I wish I had of done so anyway.
My puppy was sent to me completely infested with every type of tick and bug imaginable. I was completely furious as I couldn't understand how she could have been permitted to travel in the condition she arrived in. I called Scott immediately as I should not have had to spend hours literally picking bugs out of her with a pair of tweezers.
Scott blamed it on the flight. I'm like there is no way in the world that this was a result of a 45 minute plane ride. She looked as if she had endured this for quite some time. I took her to the vet and had her checked out and other than the bugs she was fine on the surface.
Her behavior is another issue. I could not understand why she had such a difficult time being crated. She shakes uncontrollably and has the worst emotional state I have ever witnessed in a dog. I love her to pieces, but the more we uncover, the more I want to know where she came from. I took her in for surgery for an accident that she had, and the nurse asked me where did I get her from. She didn't ask because she thought she was cute. Goldendoodles are typically bigger dogs. She is approaching a year old next week and she is only 14 pounds. I'm wondering that when they x-rayed her they must have seen something to alarm them. Which makes me question her breeding.
I emailed Scott and asked for pictures of her parents, so that I can see where she came from. Those pictures never materialized. After recently learning about the horrific conditions of puppy mills I am questioning if this is where she originated from. It has all of the makings to me. Because a reputable breeder would have wanted us to see her and would have asked us questions. I caught Scott in several lies when I asked him pointed questions about his facility. I just want to know the truth so that I know what we need to be aware of and look for moving forward. I cannot undo what has been done, but if there are health concerns that we need to know about, then I want the answer. The answer that Scott has been unwilling to disclose because he knows the truth is that the puppies that he sells are not raised in a loving home, but are outdoors in pens, exposed to the elements and to bugs and they are not properly cared for or groomed.
BEWARE. If you cannot view the facility and the conditions in which your puppy is being bred in, then do not purchase a puppy from that "breeder" as I have recently learned the problems of puppy mill dogs will not just show themselves in the first month, but will continue to unravel years later.
