I recently got married and looking over my wife's finances, noted monthly charges of $9.99-$10.99 to TLG*Greatfn57228, going back 10 months. She didn't know what these were for, so I looked into it online, and based on the purchases she made that month, it was most likely linked to a Hotwire purchase. She knew nothing about this "Great Fun!" membership program and never recieved any membership information.
This was likely a situation where there was a box automatically checked when she bought the ticket saying that she wanted to sign up for this. One of the ones that reputable companies would leave unchecked, and gie you the option to select it.instead, these companies pre-select it, hoping that you won't notice, so they can say that you completed the form, so you must have known that you signed up for it.
There are hundreds of webistes with links to this same scam. I hope legal action is taken against them. This seems like it would work well as a class-action suit. For now, we'll just try to get our money back.
I would like a "link" to be added for Trilegiant, TLG, TLG*Greatfn, and Great Fun! Companies. I found 286 reports for TLG, 186 for Trilegiant, 112 for "Great Fun", 65 for greatfn, and 62 for "tlg greatfn, " but there was no way to "link" to any them at the bottom of this report.
