Both time that I took our cat to Roque Gonzales, I was concerned because of inconsistencies in the staff's report, the DVM's written report, and the condition of the animal upon discharge. At all times the hospital was warned about the energy level of this Calico cat. We also offered to pay for Diazepam so she could be better handled.
Both times when the cat was returned, the veterinarian refused to meet with me and answer the follow up questions that I had. The second time the hospital called to say that they needed and additional four hours to clean the cat's teeth because she is energetic.
Usually, Gonzales returns the cat disheveled, bruised, and the cat walks with a limp for two days. This time we received the cat with a complete fore paw shaved and shaving in her thoracic region. My suspicions were up.
I called the Texas State Board and sure enough, this vet is to practice under supervision only and is under disciplinary mandate and continued investigation. At one point he worked for the City of San Antonio. Two different TV news exposes followed his abuse of animals there. He was eventually fired.
Of course Erin, the clerk, is helpless in Selma and denies all of this. I spoke with Shannon Ried at Banfield home offices in OR 503-922-5672. They have circled wagons and refuse comment. I understand from the swift email responses I am getting that this is standard with Banfield.
We will be suing Banfield and Gonzales, so if any are interested in joining post here. We would only like people who have strong cases and documentation as we are quite serious about this. The Texas board already has the complaint, photos, the incoherent written report that Gonzales left with the cat, and a vets report from today verifying the injuries.
So we have seen in clerk, veterinarian, and administration that Banfield does not have employees of honor or character. Do you really want to gamble with your pets' well being???
