Christi Harmon is a puppy mill. I can see she Hates being called that, because it's a disgusting way of life, but it's true. I don't care if her $30,000 "Kennel Building" is made of gold... It's still a puppy factory inside. She raises poor quality dogs on a shoe string budget, cutting corners for optimal profit.
My rescue group purchases dogs at puppy mill sales and dispersals, so they can have a chance at a better life.
We have rescued dogs with all kinds of sickness and disease. We rescue several different breeds and try to help as many as financially possible. We blend into these dog buyers, and dress to look the part.
Many of these dogs/puppies are Sick, harboring Coccidia, Giardia, and yes even brucellosis. Most all are scared to death of a humans' touch and have never been on a lead or on grass if they are small breeds.
Through a purebred rescue group, I was notified about several puppy producers, one being Christi Harmon
buying up adults and puppies at these "Dog Auctions" for her own personal use and to resale via the internet dog sites. Aka Puppyfind, NextDayPets, ect. The auctions are at Hartville, MO, Wheaton, MO and also via individuals who decide to disperse their kennels at their own homes through a dog auction service. We have seen the Harmons at many dog auctions, buying them up. Cameras are not allowed, or I would have pictures. I do want to say 98% of these dogs are poor quality pets at best.
When a dog with a Champion lineage does sell, people pay extreme amounts as they think this will boost their puppy sales. When a person breeds MANY different breeds, mass producing them, breeding the poor bitches every single heat cycle, not belonging to any of the dogs she raises own parent clubs, not following any breed code of ethics, not exhibiting/showing to see if what she is mass producing is anywhere close to the breed standard, (Which her dogs are sadly not even close) not doing the Very important genetic health testing, HOW in the world can she be doing a good job? Grooming, Socialization, Vet Visits, all this takes dedication and time something she isn't doing for 50 plus puppies a month... It shows very clearly she raises for Money.
Unfortunately, many people in Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Penn. Iowa are too uneducated or lazy to get a real job and think raising dogs is their meal ticket.~ Do not buy from this puppy producer.~ Educate Yourself! Attend a AKC Dog Show, talk to "Real" breeders. Remember that even AKC champions can
and DO produce nice pets at times that need pet homes and these puppies are far superior to puppy mill raised puppies! Wouldn't you pay a bit more for a puppy that came with a real guarantee and looked like it's breed?
You may have to wait a while... But good things come to those who Wait! Impulse buying is so out of control.
Christi Harmons' mother, Paula Walters is also now a puppy miller seeing how easy Christi makes her living off dogs. Sad, but until the laws come down hard on these people it will continue. The laws are slow to change. You yourself can make a difference much quicker.
