What a joy it was whenI found out I was pregnant! I had a secure job! I was buying the house I grew up in, I was so excited to learn that in december i was pregnant. I had been with RAC for almost 6 months and had never gotten a complaint, i even past the test to get promoted to an IO. When I informed my boss I was pregnant, I still did all my deliveries, and never called off for my morning sickness (which was terrible). My boss (from what i understand) didnt believe i was pregnant. He kept asking my former partner if i was faking.
Finally he came to me, telling me to give all my restrictions and my proof of pregnancy. So that week I had my first appointment, he put me on 25pound weight restriction. He said anything over that, where I could use my stomach muscles could hurt the baby. For a week everything was fine. I continued my deliveries and even got an award for my calls. On my day off to go get a 3 hour blood test done, I got a phone call from my boss. He told me due to my restriction I could no longer work until the restriction was removed, or until after I had the baby. The next day, I went in with my uniform and asked him face to face why I could not work. I also asked him to put it in writing. He couldnt tell me what kind of leave it was nor would he put it in writing.
Finally I was told I needed to file a lawsuit. I collected unemployment which was only half my pay for a one week check every two weeks. My credit went to hell and my stress level went through the roof. I had bill collectors blowing up my phone. I looked for a job, but no one wanted to hire a pregnant woman, who would have to go on leave in a few months. I was only 2 months when they made me leave. When the doctor told me I had become diabetic I couldnt even get food for the special diet because I had no money. I had to get welfare so my power didnt get turned off. They kept my insurance going even though I told them I couldnt pay for it. I recieved a bill for it a few months ago. They want 514$
They fought me for unemployment, telling them I took a medical leave. Even though I didnt sign any papers. Finally after going back and forth unemployment agreed that I was more than capable of working. Still all the money from them went to the house payments. It was too late to move, I had myself all moved in to the house and I had already signed a purchase agreement. My parents started trying to help us. Throwing themselves into debt. I was in and out of the hospital almost every other week for pains due to stress. Until towards my due date they decided to just induce me.
Four weeks after I had her I was back to work at a temp job. I have had a job lined up but its taking forever. I am so far in debt and i just got served to get sued by a company. All because they didnt want to accomodate me. However if hurt during work it is fine they will. Everyone knows pregnancy happens naturally to women. The lawsuit I have against them is for damages. Financially and mentally. I need any guy out there who has worked for RAC that was able to work on a restriction that was NON work related. Please, if you have, get a hold of me.
I put everything I had into that company and when I needed them the most they kicked me and my unborn baby to the curb. They lay off hundreds of pregnant women a year telling them to seek welfare. Women should be able to work there knowing that if they get pregnant they will have money for them and their baby; Instead of being punished for it. If you can help me in ANY way please do.
