I ordered a generator on Dec. 18. They deposited my credit card amount of nearly $800 on Dec. 20.By mid - January I had not received the product nor heard one word from this company about when I might receive the generator. After several phone calls and e-mails to them, I finally cancelled by phone and asked for my account to be credited. An accountant, who was not very helpful, gave me both verbal and e-mail assurance that the order was cancelled and I would be credited as per my wishes.
I checked my VISA account daily to see if the credit had been issued, and when it hadn't I e-mailed Generators Direct daily and made a phone call to a person who said he was the manager. He acted very flustered, saying he was "swamped" and he was the only person there. He told me to send an e-mail about what I wanted. At this point, I wondered if the company was bankrupt. I then filed a formal report with my Visa card issuer to contest the charge. I finally got a credit for the full purchase price (there was no shipping fee or sales tax) on Feb. 15. This company held my funds for almost two full months! I thought I'd never see any of it again.
My recommendation is NOT to give this company your business!
I ended up getting a good generator from Costco for the same price and none of the hastle or deceit.
