Unemployment lies. Sell yourself to people who really just want to make a buck off of you. Out on your butt with no money, no UI, lack of jobs

If you're having issues finding permanent employment in the administrative field in Pittsburgh you may feel that a temporary agency may be the only option. If you've looked at Craigslist.org, Monster.com, Careerbuilder.com... Etc. You will quickly realize that most of these job descriptions are actually Temp agencies (in disguise) trying to obtain your resume information. They don't state their identity in the job listing or the fact that they are a temp agency. This is very disreputable and misleading.

Please stay away from American Business Centers, Inc. If you are a working class person who lives paycheck to paycheck! You're taking a serious risk! If you enjoy getting your nutrition from Ramen noodles and living in with cockroaches in a box on the street corner. Give it a go!

The recruiters at American Business Centers are very professional and pleasant to deal with. They are trying to make a living just like everyone else. However, it's an employer's market and the greedy company has a giant pool of frantic applicants. As a temp worker you are basically a rental employee. Companies pay the temp agency to a bit extra to "try you out" all the while saving money on health insurance, paid holidays. Etc.

You wouldn't the option of having such a fantastic position if it were not for the temp agency, yet you must realize that the temp agency is getting paid a significant amount of money every week from the employer. The horrible irony is that if the employer feels the "buyout" is too dear for their wallets, you'll wind up right back at the temp agency again looking for more work. It's like a deranged self-fulfilling system that actively inhibits your chances of ever being free from their clutches.

Most people who are willing to work for an hourly wage slightly above the minimum aren't the sorts who can take such a risk. You are most likely in serious need of employment and you may be in a state of desperation.

You can get laid off at the drop of a hat because "You're not the right fit" Employers are paying a little extra to "rent you" and they want you to be a perfect machine.

You may feel that you are obligated to collect unemployment because you are completely broke, have no job prospects and you are able and willing to work.

In most cases, state unemployment insurance (UI) laws treat the temp agency as the employer of the employee for purposes of paying Unemployment taxes, workers compensation premiums, and other payroll taxes. Like all private employers, temp agencies have
their UI tax rate set according to whether or not their employees file valid UI claims and receive UI benefits. Unlike other employers, temp agencies sell their services
to third party employers by offering savings on the third party employers payroll costs. To offer these savings, temp agencies must keep their UI experience rated taxes low. This gives them a particular incentive to keep employees off UI benefits between temporary job assignments.

American Business Centers has you sign a contract that says you are "voluntarily unemployed" if a client decides you're not the employee they want. You're out on your caboose and the company can continue to "window shop".

American Business Centers said I voluntarily quit mt my receptionist position with their client, although in reality I was laid off. They also stated that I have not returned to their company for further employment, yet the truth is I call their recruiter almost every week. Recruiters will merely tantalize you with job leads that don't pan out. You call, they promise you a job and you wait. All the while your money is disintegrating and you're becoming more and more hasty. You need a job, now! Please write down all of your interactions with American Business Centers. Use this log as evidence if you are suddenly unemployed. You have rights! You work just like anyone else and you should try your best to get around their tricky loopholes. The business is greedy and evil.

Don't trust a company that takes advantage of people
