I was badly stung by fire ants at a local golf course. There were no red flags in the area. I left the country the next day, but found I needed medical assistance. The doctor found I was highly allergic to the venom of the fire ant and treatment over the next 7 days amounted to $3186.00 change. Because I was out of the country my medicare & insurance will not pay.
My claim has been denied. The reason? To quote - "We are not responsible for where Mother Nature puts the ants." Did you ever hear such a thing? Does this mean if a hurricane takes off my roof, my insurance can deny my claim because Mother Nature did it and they are not responsible???
I am a senior citizen 85 years old and I live on a fixed income. For me to pay this $3200.00 will create a hardship. Someone told me this company is nationwide, which only means to me, is that they can rip people off "nationwide". The sad thing is, all I wanted was for the bill to be paid. I was NOT seeking a 6 figure settlement, or anything like that. I guess it doesn't pay to be a "nice" guy anymore.
