I was invited by my friend to attend a meeting for a job position opening up in Tampa with a new communication company offering cell phone, cable and land line service. The meeting was set up at a church mainly made up of low income Hispanic men and women. The meeting started with Christian music and a little sermon that God was sending this opportunity to them. As the meeting went on I asked several questions. Who is the company president, where are they located, why are they hiring without SSN and not filling out W4s for tax accounting. I was told they had no answers and that if I did not have faith not to join, that people believed in Jesus and had faith in him. I rebutted to say that Jesus had nothing to do with my questions.
The speaker made me feel as though I was a very angry person out to bad mouth the company. They offer retirement with the company when you invest in their products. They tell everyone that the person who invented this company is a Christian who wants to help other Christians. They plug the 15 Christian stations only available in Spanish. When I asked why this was, they had no reply. I asked why this company was seemingly only targeting low income Hispanics with promises of making over 50000 a year and possible more. I again was chastised by the speaker. He had no answers. Only that in Jan 08 they would begin. They offered several packages at 24.95 and that you will go out to your friends and family sign them up then the equipment will be sent to you. Clearly this is a rip off.
Many of the people there want so much to believe it was sad that they refused to see that they will be putting in money to receive products I believe they will never receive. Also the so called preacher did not want to include Anglos or anyone from outside the church (his words not mine). Another red flag. I hope someone puts a stop to these people so far here in Tampa they a 500 following.
