We hired Trans Atlantic Moving Company almost a month ago to assist us in our move from Oklahoma to Washington. On moving day, a truck showed up but it wasn't Trans Atlantic. When calling "Tom" the Trans Atlantic dispatch guy, my husband was told that they often "sub-contract" in the area we were moving to.
We would have fired them, but we were up against the clock in moving from the house we sold not to mention the upcoming storm which had already made moving almost impossible with the power outage being wide spread in Oklahoma at the time.
The men, (there were five of them although only one spoke legible English) came with a truck that was too small but swore that it could all fit. Once they realized they could NOT fit it into the truck, the dispatcher told us that he would take the contents of the first truck to storage, deliver another truck, meet up with the first truck, combine the two and deliver all to our new address.
As the storm got worse and children were cold, my husband made the decision to leave the house and the movers to finish on their own since there was very little left so he could get on the road. Not the best decision I know, but he had few options at that point.
It wasn't until two days later that the lady who bought our house called and told us that we still had stuff there.
It took FIVE days for the new truck to get to our old house and pick up the rest of our belongings, in which time some of the things were outdoor items and tools that would be PRIME ITEMS for someone to rip right off our driveway since it was unattended.
Besides that, they STILL left a couple things there and got the loaded truck stuck in the front yard and made HUGE holes in the yard trying to get it out (not to mention breaking one of our shovels in the process). This did not sit well with the new owner as you can imagine.
Ezekiel, the dispatcher SWORE that he would make this right. That he would fix the holes, that he would replace items that were left the SECOND time. And that our belongings would get to us without anything lost or damaged.
Repeated phone calls have produced little results and this company has missed 5 promised delivery dates and caused our family a lot of stress and anxiety.
We don't know who to report them to, what can be done and WHERE our stuff it or even "IF" it is anymore.
If anyone can advise us we would appreciate it. Is this an immigration suit? Civil? Federal? I am thankful my family is safe, but devastated that our move has cost us EVERYTHING we have.
