What a scam, and I bought it! During the 'interview', at the Oak Brook, IL OST location, I was flattered and encouraged into thinking, as a voice over talent, that once I was sent on auditions for modeling (and I am no where near my twenties!) or acting, I could network my way into voice over work.
First red flag: no mature talent testimonials of any category featured on their web site. Next red flag: the casting opportunities that OST talent can apply to as part of the deal were remarkably few for a huge market like Chicago, and mostly targeted twenty-somethings, or were from local film students looking for free talent for their class film projects. PLUS just about every audition opportunity is on Craig's List!
When bringing some of this info to the attention of the 'agent' who signed me, I was told to 'be patient' (what does being patient accomplish in this market?), or 'you have to be requested' (I thought I paid YOU to handle that!).
At the photo shoot you are required to attend, I saw talent from 5 to 50 years old-I wonder where they are now?
After four months of vague answers from some very young, ignorant sounding people, I quit. No one tried to stop me or even tried to scam me further into staying. It is a well run, smooth operation that preys upon countless hopefuls. And once you pay, you are old news.
