Does not honor cancellations, lures you into renewing free 30 day membership cliffside park new jersey

I had signed up for a free credit report for 30 days. Before the end of 30 days, I cancelled the service. Later I find that they're still charging me $12.95 per month. I finally got someone on the phone and told them that I had previously cancelled the membership. They said that I hadn't. I asked for confirmation by email of my cancellation, and I received it. However, three weeks since I cancelled I am still receiving their credit report alerts and emails. Suddenly I got an alert that my address was changed.

I contacted them and asked them why I am still getting alerts despite having cancelled. First they tell me that it's normal for thirty days after cancellation. Then I asked them what I could do about the false change of address on my credit report, and they tell me that I need to renew and that I can do the thirty-day free membership again since I cancelled. I asked again why I was still receiving alerts, and they told me that even though my membership WAS cancelled, the agent who had cancelled it must have pressed twice and therefore it wasn't cancelled even though it was.

WHAT BALONEY! Then I forgot my password and they froze the account, so I asked them to unfreeze it (under the new free 30-day trial membership). When I try to get back to see the report I get a message telling me I have to pay $12.95 that is past due! I called them up again, and they tell me that it was an automatic payment request that went through. This request for payment on my credit card was Dated Dec. 14, four days after i had cancelled. The only reason they didn't get paid is because I had just closed the account on that credit card!

So, if it had been active, they would have charged my account despite my having cancelled the membership. Needless to say, their practices are rather shady. So, i suggest that you request written confirmation of cancellation, and keep your proof. I plan on writing to my Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau. They should be ashamed.
