I haven't been able to contact Doug Morrison in 6 months although I've left multiple voice messages and emails. 6 months ago he abandoned our training after the third lesson.
On June 4 we had an appointment with Doug for dog training at our house. Our time of 6pm came and went and no Doug. We've not heard anything from him since then. That should have been our fifth meeting, and fourth training session.
We were quite worried that something must have happened to Doug. He'd forgotten us and been an hour late once before but this was a complete no-show and he didn't answer his phone. He was gruff with us but very friendly.
Through a friend that had just finished her dog's training, I was able to find out that Doug had been called overseas for the mine training he does with dogs, and would be returning in about three weeks. We were relieved to learn that nothing was wrong with Doug although very disappointed to be left completely in the lurch. Meantime however, Doug had told her that people in training were to be contacted by one of Doug's other trainers to be looked after while he was away.
Well, in addition to being stood up and left in the dark on that date, no one ever called us or returned any of our calls.
Time passed all the way to fall and Doug's website now said he'd be returning in September. So, more unreturned calls from us. You know, we would have acted sooner except that we thought that what Doug was doing overseas was important and we'd just have to be patient. Rather he's just decided he was tired of training, I guess. Stranger still, training was going fine until he disappeared.
October; website looks like Doug is back. Message about his returning is gone, it's been updated. So, more unreturned calls and emails from us. Now here we are in November.
For obvious reasons I emailed asking Doug to refund half of our fee as we received under half of our training (8 - 10 classes — until the dog was completely trained, guaranteed, etc.). Our contract dated April 18th shows we paid $460.00 by cheque. At this point, that covered 3 lessons - hardly the full course. I requested a refund of $230.00.

Since I started digging into Doug's whereabouts I've discovered 11 complaints with the BBB in the last 36 months and more complaints like on this site. Obviously we've been had. I can only hope he gets what he deserves.
