Excessive local collect call fee of $7.60 a min

I have just received bill for an 8 minute local collect phone call for $60.86. The distance of the call was 20 miles. At that rate I could have taken a taxi, and it would have cost less. Really I am upset at VERIZON for forwarding this charge on there bill to me.

This company is a known SCAMMER. VERIZON and all lagitimit tellco's should refuse to forward charges from this and all questionable companies.By putting a scammer's charges on their bill, VERIZON gives an air of lagitimitacy to the fees. I now have to drive the same 20 miles to the VERIZON store and get them to remove the excessive fees from my bill. That's not good customer relations.

Companies that install payphones that don't allow you to pay when you place the call, will be ex-companies if this is the going rate for their services. I am going to follow-up on this with the state attorneys general's office, the FCC and the FTC. If this isn't against the law, it should be.
