In December I lost my Mom. I was devastated as she was my Mom and best friend.
I never dream, but in April I had the same dream for a week straight. It was my Mom telling me to get another dog because she hated when I cried. I already had one Pomeranian which turned out to be a Puppy Mill Dog.
Not thinking straight, because Mom told me to get a dog, I immediate went on the internet. I found the cutest all black Pomeranian. I E-Mailed Mike, who assured me his dogs were not Puppy Mill dogs, how he loved all his dogs, and he would never sell anyone a sick dog. Again, being distraught, I believed him. His Internet site said no one was guaranteed a dog, you had to go through an Interview Process.
I E-Mailed Mike Meyer at his web site listed and told him I was interested in Pom #154. I asked if he was a legitimate breeder or a puppy mill seeing he was from Kentucky and I did not want another puppy mill dog. He assured me he only sold the finest dogs and he loved his dogs very much. This was April 2. Mr. Meyer told me he would E-Mail me a copy of his contract which I read and had no problem with it, it was a standard dog contract. Mr. Meyer never interviewed me, he just told me the price of the dog and how much it would cost for him to drive the dog to me.
Mr. And Mrs. Meyer drove the dog to me on April 5. He had me sign the contract but he refused to sign it. He also forged someone else's name on the dog's AKC papers right in front of me. Within 24 hours the dog had lost all its hair. I contacted Mr. Meyer and was told I must have did something to the dog. I told him that was impossible seeing my other Pom had all her hair.
The dog from Mr. Meyer beside loosing all its hair was constantly scratching herself. I took it numerous times to my vet to check for mange, skin disorders, or had fleas. The dog had none of the above. I then contact Mr. Meyer again and told him, and he informed me I did not take the dog to a licensed Vet. I asked Mr. Meyer, how he would know that, and did he think I was stupid, I knew where he was going, so I told him I took the dog to be checked by Bozo the clown.
My next step was to dispute the charge on my credit card.
Unhappy with my first vet because he could not find anything wrong with the dog, I took her to another vet. They did a blood test on her in conjunction with the University of Tennessee.in order for the dog to have this test, the dog had to be put under anesthesia, something I was not thrilled with on a 2 month old dog, but if it helped I would do anything.
$3,000.00 later, I was told the dog had a genetic defect. She was producing too many growth hormones and she would never regain all her hair back. Well, Mr. Puppy Mill stopped responding to my E-Mails. My two month old puppy that was only supposed to weigh 5 pounds is a giant within the 3rd month I had her.
When I was advised by my credit card company that I lost my dispute because I signed the contract, I cancelled the credit card.in doing research I found out that my credit card was billed by K-9 Plaza, not Pomeranians USA. Turns out Mr. Meyer is a broker, did not own the dog, and was selling it for his friend and the dog never belonged to Mr. Meyer. That is why he forged the AKC Papers with the name of the real owner.
I tried contacting K-9 Plaza for months and they do not answer their phones. Then I tried contacting the named on the AKC Papers Mr, Meyer forged and they too never answered their phone.
I got so angry I started mailing Mr. Puppy Mill the dogs hair that fell out, but stopped because I did not want Mr. Meyer to have me arrested for mail fraud. So I E-Mailed him every day until August. Finally, in August, Mr. Meyer pulled his web-site and unless he is using another name, is out of business.
I would like to go after K-9 Plaza if I could find them, they list no address. I called the AKC and they had no listing for K-9 Plaza.
To stop the dog from growing and constantly scratching herself, I had to have her spayed at 3 months, 3 months before the name time. The dog is on hormone pills and still constantly scratching herself. And the vet was right, she has no hair on her stomach at all, no hair on her knees, and various other places. I would not trade her for all the tea in China. I love her very much.
Something has to be done to shut down these puppy mills and stop people like Mr. Meyer from brokering dogs.
I would also like to go after K-9 Plaza, the people who charged me for the dog and do whatever it takes to close them down.
HELP! I am so glad to have found your web-site. I feel maybe now I can get justice for myself and more importantly for the dog.
