Lincolnland Express is a shuttle service serving the Central Illinois region to and fro from Chicago airports. My wife booked the 6:10 AM shuttle from O'hare International Airport to Champaign for 10/07.
When she arrived at the airport after a 17 hour international flight, she was told that the shuttle was canceled because she was the only passenger. They asked her to wait for the next shuttle which was at 9:40 AM.
When I called the shuttle service local office in champaign, Illinois to inquire about it, the lady at the other end told me that she had already informed my wife about the cancellation by calling her on her cellphone and had left a message when she very well knew that cellphones are switched off in flights and the earliest she would be able to check her messages was when she gets off the plane.
I told the lady that my wife has had a long journey (17 hours) and that she had booked the shuttle on time and it was not her fault that she was their only passenger, but this lady rudely told me that 'there is nothing she can do about it'. She even told me that its written on their website that they can cancel any shuttle anytime, which is a complete lie. She told me that it 'costs' them a lot to come and pick up just one person. {The distance between the two locations is 150 miles one way.
Assuming the shuttle is a gas guzzler and has a mileage of 15 miles/gallon it takes them 20 gallons of gas for this round trip. At the current gas prices of 2.6 $, it comes to 52 $!!! They are charging 50 $/one way and still it is costly to them??? I'm sure they dont' pay their driver by daily wages, either}.
And when I retorted back and said that they can't just leave a person out there at the airport waiting for the shuttle, she hung up the phone on me.
Well, this clears a few things - 1. As against all their phony advertisements, their shuttle service is pathetic. 2. They don't care about people and their plight, all they care about is money. 3. They have the worst customer service people.
I know they have done this kind of thing in the past as well, and will continue to do so, if no one takes action against them.
