I had bought my dog Zeus from the Puppy Shoppe in Edison, NJ in early May. It is now August and I have experienced nothing but problems and heartaches since I got him after losing my wonderful Lab, Bear, of thirteen years.
Zeus is supposedly a hybrid dog, half Sheltie, hald Corgie. But, he carries no distingushing features of either mix and little information was available to me as the buyer from open sources, but let alone supplied by the carrier.
I took Zeus to Bansfield Pet Hospital, which is the vet provider that the Puppy Shoppe works with so your puppy can finish up his booster shots and bring for any health issues or problems within fifteen days of purchase free of charge. Low and behold, no one even ran any stool tests on him and they tried to make me pay for one of his distemper shots which was supposed to be included. Funny, Mark the owner of the Puppy Shoppe said if I ran into any problems at Bansfield, just tell them Mark said its ok, but Bansfield didn't care. Bansfield also suspected Zeus had kennel cough which I am aware is normal in puppies, but gave him no medication. When I actually took him to my vet and more money spent, he had GIARDIA. Giardia is a bacteria that can be transmitted to humans from animals and its hard to get rid of finding out that now 3 MONTHS LATER!!!
Also, Zeus has been through formal puppy training and has been clearly labeled by my trainer as a fear biter and is dominant aggressive which is a liability to me, my family, and anyone who encounters him. He constantly snaps and is uncontrollable. After more money to find out whats wrong with him cause I love him, some of the answers I was given was that he may have been removed from his mother too early or worse inbred.
So lets see, I purchased a dog to love and have a life time of companionship with only to be made the fool by his supposed hybrid "breeds", his health and mental state, and easily states the line that the Puppy Shoppe is a family business who does everything for their customers. Oh yeah? Then why on earth sell me a dog that you have no knowledge about, and that I also can't find any information about? Why sell me a dog who has an internal parasite that may never go away or that can harm me or my family and send me to a second rate vetinary facility cause its free? Why sell me a dog that I will not get to love its whole life but probably have to put down cause it was so poorly bred.
I absolutely hate the Puppy Shoppe. I have invested thousands of dollars into a dog that I shouldn't have. I am not removing the responsibility of being a pet owner and that nothing of this sort can happen, but they could have prevented it!!
