On July 27 I received a package in the mail from USA Credit. This package included my USA platinum memership card, a $12,500 shopping limit that reports to a major credit bureau, USA Credit Care that makes you eligible for up to $20,000 of identity theft insurance, USA Prescription Plan, that provides up to 40% on name brand and generic drugs, USA Emergency Roadside Assistance Plan (Household Coverage), and a $300.00 Grocery Coupon Card.
At first I was excited to receive all of this, unlike most of you I applied for this membership card and was aware of the $149.94 fee. However, that was all I was aware of. After I started to read the "FINE" print, I become skeptical for may reasons.
First it gave me a 30 day free trial membership that was not suppose to cost me anything and within that 30 day trial period I could cancel my membership and not be charged the $19.95 monthly fee that is debited from my checking account every month. This is the the cost or being an Elite Member, whatever that means.
It stated in the card member agreement that, in the event my membership fee is returned due to non-sufficient funds, I understand and agree that USA Credit will issue me a USA Credit Merchandise Card with a credit line of $2,500 for a one-time enrollment fee of $49.95.instead of the inital line of credit of $12,500 that cost $149.95 to enroll. They don't offer this lower fee to consumers when you pull up their website. This lower fee only comes up if they are unsuccessful in getting the $149.95 from your account.
I've read alot of complaints from consumers, and I am disgusted at how so many people have been treated and mislead by this company. I wanted this card because I wanted to rebuild my credit and a credit line of $12,500 would be impressive on my credit report. After reading so many painful and agonizing letters, all I want is my refund.
I went to their website usashoppingclub to see what kind of merchandise they offer and to tell you the truth I was not impressed. The items look second hand and very cheaply made.
For all the people who have been wronged my this company and are fighting for the refund of their money. The information I provide I hope that it helps you in some way. According to the card member agreement paper, I'm going to give you information regarding the following: monthly charges, minimum payments of balances owed, credit bureau access, delinquent accounts, default on account, membership, application and enrollment fees, refund of card membership, and cancellation of account.
Disclaimiers: USA Credit is not a credit services organization, financial or banking institution. Your account is a line of credit that can be used by an Accountholder to shop only at their website.
Elite Membership Status: Given a 30 day trial free period upon receipt of payment ($149.95) and verification of identity. They will not debit Your bank account for this service during the 30 day trial period. At the end of the 30 day trial period. They will debit your bank account in the amount of $19.95, and you will also be bedited $19.95 every month thereafter in which you maintain your elite membership status. You may cancel Your service at any time by contacting their Member Services Department. Also you must activate the card when you receive it. If you receive the card and dont activate then nothing should be deducted from you account per this agreement.
Credit Bureau Reporting: USA credit will not access your personal credit report as part of the activation process in establsihing your inital credit account. However, USA is a subscriber to a Credit Bureau and reserve that right to access your credit report per this agreement.
Monthly Payment: Monthly payment of all outstanding balances is calculated by finding the greater of or 15% of the account balance owed or $25.00 whihever is greater. Which is debited from your checking account. Also USA Credit is not responsible for any OVERDRAFT fees charged by your bank or incurred by you due to draft attempt.
Membership fees: $149.95 is for intial membership. Break down of charges: $114.95 enrollment fee. $35.00 application (non-refunable).
Refund of Card Membership: You may cancel your enrollment into the USA Credit Plan within 30 Days from the receipt of the Welcome Kit and USA Credit Shopping Card. To receive a refund, you must contact USA Credit at 1-800-262-4192 to obtain a RETURN AUTHORIZATION NUMBER. Once you receive your return authorization number, you will be required to return all membership documents and the USA Credit Shopping Card to: USA Credit, One Millennium Drive, Uniontown, PA 15401. Refund guidelines must be carefully followed to assure prompt refund of monies. There is a non-sufficient funds fee of $20.00 deducted in the event that any debit previously authorized by you has been returned unpaid by your bank for any reason. There will be no REFUND in the event that there are Unpaid Balances posted to your account or if there are pending merchandise orders.
You must allow at least seven (7) business days form their receipt of your membership materials (Discount prescription card, Roadside assistance card, $300.00 grocery coupons, and USA Card) for your refund to be processed per agreement.
Cancellation of Account: USA Credit Account willbe active for 12 months from the date of issue. USA Credit, at its sole discretion, may cancel this agreement and may demand payment in full of the entire balance due, if you default on this contract.in the event USA Credit cancels your account, you will continue to be responsible to make full payment of any remaining USA Credit account balances per agreement.

Fraud Resolution: USA Credit fully cooperates with all law enforcement agencies in the pursuit of fraud, with regard to the unauthorized use of information in applying for this membership. If you believe Your bank account was fraudulently charged for the membership fee, they say they will make every effort to aid in a resolution. However, before they take any action, you will have to fax or a mail a copy of a official report you filed with your local police or law enforcement agency detailing the suspected fradulent act and also a copy of the portion of your account statement showing the date and amount of the withdrawal. They ask you to allow two (2) weeks for resolution after they recive the report and statement.
So, it seems in order for any monies to refunded we must file a police report first and then obtain our banking statements before any help will be given. So just calling them and complaining is not enough for them to get involved. I suggest we do just that and make sure to include their name in the report as a possible suspect.
Because this company does not do a credit check before approving you for this card, I believe it makes it easier for someone who knows or have your name, birthdate, and social security card to apply for this card. I just don't know how they can get your bank information as well. Imagine gold Credit Card is linked with this company. So, you think you are getting approved for a credit card, which needs your checking account information before they even give you a credit card. Plus we are getting enrolled in this USA Credit Shopping Membership Stuff. Since they already have the banking information it makes it easier for them to enroll us into this crap and without most of us not even knowing about this shopping club. This is not even fair.
