My husband signed up for this service so I don't know what all he was told, but judging from the former MSA employee I can guess. He was probably told he could get 5 magazines a month for a contract of 60 months for $19 a month for 18 or 36 months I'm not sure that was a little unclear. They actually deducted $34.22 each month @ 18 months thats $630 for 5 magazines at five years each. Now most magazine subscriptions only cost $12 a year so 5 times 12 is 60 times 5 years is $300.in other words with MSA your getting screwed! A subscription to Maxim which costs more than the average magazine was still only $60 for 3 years. And the magazines my husband got didn't even look like ones he would be interested in and he couldn't change them.
Three months into the contact another charge came up on our statement for $38.04 in addition to $34.22 each month. Since this wasn't my account I didn't think anything of it until several months later when I looked really close at the account # for MSA and saw that they were two different accounts. When I called the 1-800# the rep first said "oh no there's just one acct for your husband and we're only taking out money for acct# — ". When I told her I was at the bank staring at my statement which clearly showed debited withdraws to MSA she argues and said the other one must be some other magazine account. How insulting! Like I'm an illiterate idiot that can't read my bank statement. So she told to fax my bank statements to her fax # to prove the double billing. So I did with the banks help and a nice cover letter stating that my husband and I stopped all transactions between our account and MSA so they cannot debit it and MSA can contact either our bank or my husband and I in regards to refunding the $500 they took out without permission. Of course we havn't heard from them. But now we're gettiing bills in the mail not only for the $34.22 but also for the $38.04 the we're illegaly taking out of our account. An account that wasn't even in my husbands name to begin with but now is. Next we will contact the Attorney Generals office of Florida then we'll see. We've paid over $1000 to MSA so contract or no we don"t feel we owe them a dime!
