After paying a $300 deposit in December to sign up with TXU; I received my first bill in January for a 30 day period. The cost: $318.
I immediately called TXU and asked them to come re-read the meter. I called with requests in January, February and March, and was told yes, we'll get to it or we can't find anywhere you requested we read the meter. Meanwhile, my next TXU bill was $431.
Finally, with no response from TXU, I switched to Gexa Energy starting in March. My first bill from Gexa for a 30 day period: $144.
That's a 300% difference in cost!
The last time I called TXU to ask once again for them to come out and read the meter; I was told they would not because I was no longer their customer.
What's interesting is that Gexa Energy told me that TXU does still read my meter; I'm just paying Gexa instead of TXU.
How does TXU get away with this? What can I do to be reimbursed for this amazing rip-off?
