Hello there! I was an employyee of LA Weight Loss, otherwise known as LAWL by us. I have worked at Jenny Craig as well as Quick Weight Loss. They are all the same. It is a selling tool. Employyee actually go through weeks of training learning scripted verbage to use to get you to buy. They learn the different types of objections, such as the husband obj., cost obj. And fear. Everything that they tell you has been pre-printed, memorized and they have even been quizzed on this. Want a taste?"Thank you for calling LA Weight Loss where your free to live, my name is %, how can I help you?" Further down the line..."Our program is uniquely tailored for everyone" Or better yet..."How can you put a price on your own health?" These are all scripted phrases that we were given. We first are told that we care about clients, we are here to help. This is a week of brain washing, then we taste test everything, any negative thoughts or questions are very quickly hushed and the person shamed. After training then you have a period of "good job" and "your really helping people". After which it is all about sales. How much, what is your goal for the week, here is your quoto, what will you do to reach it?
Each center is called three times a day, the 9's, the 1's and the end of the day. What are they about? How much money you have brought in, and if it is not enough, you better hope you have a plan to fax in. If it is not met by the end of business, you get a long lecture as to what you did wrong and how you will change it. The company is mainly run by women, who's head';s are blown up with power. You have coun.'s, assistants (sell programs) and Center Manager's. After which you have a trainer, and an Area Supervisor. They do not care about the people there. At my location the "upper" people would come in about once a week and up sell our customers to death. Turn over there is awful, every three to four weeks people quit. The ones that stay have little or no self esteem thinking this is the career for them. There are meetings where new scripts are taught. What to do if someone wants a refund, how to get people to come in without telling them the price and how to lie without breaking laws. You will lose weight on the program, how much or for how long I can't say, but one thing I can tell you is that it will cost you a pretty penny. Anytime the company was nearing trouble our Owner would email all Managers (me) and tell us (more scripts) exactly what to tell the Media and others. It is a scam. The employees there are barely paid anything, we're talking anywhere between 8hr to 11hr. They will tell you in interviewing that you should earn between 14-16hr. But my paycheck was never so lucky. The hours are long, the work is hard (lieing to people gets old). I was trained on what emotional triggers to play on. "wouldn't this make your husband happy?" "how will this change your life?" Our job weas to get customer to visualize themselves thin and then tell them this program will do that. We are told to tell them about the LA Lite bars, but never actually go over price. But if asked, we are to respond "that depends on your own personal health issues which we will determine during your medical evaluation" If still provoked, then "you need two LA Lite's a day, don't they look great? Which is your favorite? They cost a 3rd less than other health bars and work perfectly with the program, also allowing you to qualify for getting half your money back, that's right, I'm going to pay you to lose weight! Isn't that great?"
It has been 6 months since I worked there and let me admit to you that I still remember all that I had to say to the tee. Thats how much we were quized, tested and stressed to do it their way.
